These
Awards are granted to existing Chapter House pupils who are about
to move through to Queen Ethelburga's Senior School. The value
of the Awards are based on a mixture of the Key Stage 2 Test
results overlaid with how many continuous terms the pupil has
been in Chapter House and whether they will be a day pupil or
boarder when in QE. This Award becomes first payable upon the
commencement of Year 7. The Award is automatically reviewed to
decide whether it will be continued, varied or removed as results
are known at GCSE.
Key Stage 2 Test results are gained in English, Maths and Science.
In each subject there are a maximum number of marks available.
From year to year the maximum number of marks possible may vary
and each year what number of marks gained by a pupil qualifies
for a Level 3, 4 or 5 also can vary. Thus to be consistent from
year to year we make these Awards based on the percentage of
pass marks in an individual subject.
For example there may be a total of 50 marks possible in Maths.
A pupil scoring 40 marks has thus gained 80%. Having worked
out each child's percentage score in each of the three subjects
we
then add them up to produce the total of all 3 percentages.
If say a child achieved 80% in English, 85% in Maths and 80%
in
Science then they have a achieved a total of 245%. If they
had been at Chapter House for 12 terms and were going to be
a boarder
at QE they would qualify for an Award worth £1,000 per
year.
Previous
Key Stage 2 test results gained by Chapter House pupils show
that on average well over half of the year group are capable
of qualifying for an Award as detailed below.
